Spot and derivatives: understand the record first
Work through the four checks below, then use the related tools or contact support if an account-specific question remains.
What you are trading
Spot trading exchanges assets. A derivative creates contract exposure and may involve margin, leverage and liquidation. A contract position is not the same as holding the underlying asset.
Read the order status
Distinguish an unfilled, partially filled and fully filled order. Cancelling an order generally cancels the unfilled remainder; it does not undo quantities already traded.
Understand exposure
Margin is not the same as a position’s notional value. Leverage can amplify losses as well as gains. Review contract-specific margin and liquidation rules rather than inferring risk from the deposit alone.
Check the total cost
Read the executed quantity, average price and trading fee. For perpetuals, inspect funding separately. Start by understanding an existing record; no live order is needed for this lesson.
This is an independently written practical guide. Product availability, network support and exchange terms can change. Verify the relevant product screen before acting; examples are not live quotes.
