zkAPI: separating usage authorisation from identity

The official introduction describes bounded API usage authorised with zero-knowledge proofs. Payment-link privacy is not the same as hiding all request content.

The official material

The 1 October introduction describes prepaid credits and proofs that authorise bounded API usage while separating what the provider and payment layer observe. The announcement says it runs on Ethereum mainnet; Panda has not tested the service.

Panda view

Reducing identity-to-spend linkage does not mean the provider cannot see request content or that devices keep no logs. Map what each party can observe before assessing a privacy claim.

For developers

Check units, spending bounds, failure handling, keys and logging as well as the proof mechanism. Whether retries incur another charge depends on the interface, not simply on the use of zero knowledge.

For readers

Such infrastructure may change how software buys services, but it is not a yield product. Understanding the announcement does not require depositing funds or granting wallet permissions.
